The Catholic Education Service for England and Wales (CESEW) welcomes the decision in support of the Diocese of Westminster by the Schools Adjudicator, in relation to the Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School’s admissions procedures. The adjudication upheld the right of the Diocese to give guidance to schools. In this instance the guidance had not been followed by the school.
Oona Stannard, Chief Executive and Director of CESEW, said, "It is heartening that the Schools Adjudicator has recognised the good work of the Diocese of Westminster’s Education Commission in guiding its schools to ensure that their admissions policies are fair, transparent and equitable, meeting the requirements of the Schools’ Admissions Code. I am delighted that the Diocese’s clear thinking and great care in admissions matters has been recognised and supported by the Schools Adjudicator."
