On 16th July 2008, St Mary’s College in Hull hosted a successful conference sponsored by the Youth Sport Trust, with the support of the CES and the Church of England.  Community Cohesion, what does it mean for us? was the first national conference for faith school specialist sports colleges.  Held at the National Centre for Early Music in York, the conference was aimed at head teachers, Directors of Specialism, Partnership Development Managers and diocesan officers.

Conference objectives:

Ø  to raise awareness of the unique contribution made by faith schools with specialist sports college status to community cohesion;

Ø  to identify, evaluate and celebrate good practice;

Ø  to participate in action planning to affirm the contribution made by such colleges to community cohesion

a) to enable the colleges to demonstrate this within the SEF

b) in preparation for Ofsted and section 48 inspections.
