Ministers have decided not to publish a new Code of Practice on Admissions for the time being. They say that the draft Code published for consultation in the summer attracted a high volume of responses, which they wish to consider thoroughly. Revised Codes of Practice on Admissions and Admissions Appeals are to be published in due course.
The CES anticipates that changes may also be considered at ministerial level in the light of responses to the White Paper (see documents for download). Governors of voluntary aided schools should note that regulations on the admission of looked after children, which also went out to consultation in the summer, are to come into force in the New Year.
