DCSF praises new CES publication "Leading a Catholic School" (14th April 2008)
*

The Department for Children, Schools and Families has praised the work of the CES in producing a DVD and related materials entitled 'Leading a Catholic School - the best job in the world!'

The pack successfully highlights the importance of thinking ahead for the future and aligns well with the Succession Planning work of the National College for School Leadership (NCSL).  The DVD gives a positive message about the role of headship and links in well to the training support available through NCSL.

From watching the DVD, it is clear aspiring heads want to feel supported as they step up to the challenge of leadership.  It is important that Head teachers build the right leadership teams around them, with the diversity of skills needed to run 21st century schools.

School Resources Group, DCSF

The DCSF also wanted to highlight the role of School Business Managers in relieving headteachers of some of the operational duties involved in running a school.  To find out more about School Business Managers visit the NCSL website, http://www.ncsl.org.uk/programmes/bdp/sbmfuture/sbmfuture-index.cfm
