Statement by the Trustees of the Charles Plater Trust, Monday 9th July 2007
*

The Trustees have received from the Plater Steering Committee its report concerning the future of the Charles Plater Trust.  This Trust was established when Plater College was closed.  The Steering Committee was asked to make recommendations regarding the future activities of the Trust.

The Trustees are grateful to all members of the Steering Committee particularly its Chair, Professor Simon Lee, for the intensive and detailed work they have carried out.

The Trustees accept the recommendations regarding the use of the assets of the Trust for the future of ‘the Plater mission’.  The Trustees also accept the recommendations regarding the structure for the application of the Charles Plater Trust and its administration.    New appointments will be sought immediately.  The recommendations regarding the Plater College Archive will also be followed up.

Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, Chairman of the Charles Plater Trust said:

“I am most grateful to the Committee for all its work.  They have shown us the way to carry forward the mission, first established by Fr Charles Plater, in today’s circumstances.  Former members of Plater College and those associated with it will be pleased by the realism and focus of these recommendations.  The Plater tradition will now be carried forward for many generations to come.  Its impact will be most worthwhile.”
