The CES secures additional, short term help on 14-19 policy matters I am delighted to share with colleagues the good news that David Lewis, Head Teacher of St Wilfrid’s School, Wakefield, is to work with the CES for 2 days per week until the end of this term on 14-19 policy matters.
David brings a great deal of expertise and experience as headteacher of a school with a very large and successful sixth form. David has been an invaluable member of the CES’ 14-19 Working Group, a contributor to the “Stockport Conference” and helped to present 14-19 issues to all the Bishops at their Conference last week.
David is helping us thanks to the generosity of the governing body at St Wilfrid’s and on the clear understanding that his help, through an informal secondment, will only be available to us until the end of this term. I am sure that you join with me in thanking Fr Sean Durcan in releasing David to help us all in this way; a wonderful gesture of serving the common good.
I know that you will hear from David in due course about some of his plans and activities and I hope that you will be able to meet his requests for local intelligence gathering, sharing of “on the ground information” etc. David can be contacted through his email at the CES; dlewis@cesew.org.uk.
I must reiterate the short term nature of this help and our continued hope that schools and colleges will commit to providing their support for a 3 year, designated 14-19 post. This would be advertised nationally but will only be possible if the necessary funding is secured. At present, we have had responses from 25% of our schools and colleges. Of these all but two have promised their financial support.
